What Genre have you read most this year?
  Fantasy! Beautiful fantasy. *happy sigh*
What genre have you read least this year?
Probably Historical Fiction. I'm super picky on what kind I like, and I don't really recall any I've read this year. Hmm, *quickly goes to see on Goodreads reading challenge*

What genre do you want to read more of?
Mystery and historical fiction. I'm just super picky on what I like. Which is the reason I haven't read many this year.

How many books have you read this year? And what's you goal?
My goal is fifty. So far I've read a piddly amount, really. I've read eighteen. I blame on dystopian. I never had a reading slump till I picked up my first dystopian. Then I had one for THREE WHOLE MONTHS!!!!  This year I had one for four months and only managed to muddle through like, one a month. It’s terrible! *whimpers in dark corner*

What’s the last book you bought?
Well, I bought two at the same time. Those being....Samara’s Peril by Jaye L. Knight,
Samara's Peril (Ilyon Chronicles #3)
and The Runaway King by Jenneifer A. Neilsen!
The Runaway King (The Ascendance Trilogy, #2)

What Book are you saving up to buy next?

I want to buy Storming. by K. M. Weiland It’s a steampunk and I’ve never read one of those. My sister is reading it now, but I just want it on my shelf! It’s so big(ish), and beautiful!
Storming

How many books did you check out last at the Library?

Hmm, we don’t go to the library much, but I think last time I went I got six books. I totally forget what they were. I know one was a book of fairytales, and the other was “Everything You Need to Know About Writing”.

What’s a book you can’t wait to read?

Only One? Oh no. That can not do. There are to many! Here are my top five.

Exiles by Jaye L. Knight,
Deliverer by Tricia Mingerink,
A Time to Rise by Nadine Brandes,
A Time to Rise (Out of Time, #3)

Silver Rose by Shantelle Hannu
(Okay, as you can tell by the lack of a title and author name, that's not Silver Rose's cover, but it was on Shantelle's blog for cover ideas for Silver Rose. I've taken a fancy to it, and since the final cover isn't out yet, I put this picture here.)

Next , and final book, is... Spindle by Shonna Slayton

What’s a series you recommend to everyone!
Hmmm, give me a minute…. THE ILYON CHRONCILES, THE BLADES OF ACKTAR SERIES, AND THE OUT OF TIME SERIES!!!!! Hands down. Sorry, for these kind of questions, I have a one track mind, and the tracks always stray to these books. They're just so GOOOD!!!!

Who’s an author you hope writes more?

I always get confused by this question. I hope certain authors write more, but I know that they already are writing more. Other authors I don't know if they are writing more or not, but I'm pretty sure they are. So, I don't really have an answer to this question.

A few books your heart adores
*see "What series you recommend to everyone question*

What series coming conclusion makes You sad?
*whimpers* We no mention series ending. Kay? *cries* (What will I do without the Blades of Acktar, and the Out of Time Series? *cries buckets full of tears*)

What books do you have on your wishlist

Uh, more than I can count. Here is just a very tiny bit.

Radialloy (Firmament #1)
Sir Kendrick and the Castle of Bel Lione (The Knights of Arrethtrae, #1)
King's Folly (The Kinsman Chronicles, #1)
The Ryn (Eyes of E'veria, #1)

Defy by Tricia Mingerink Book Review

Title: Defy

Author: Tricia Mingerink

Series: The Blades of Acktar

Genre: Fantasy

Audience: Young Adult

What The Book Is About
The war for Acktar has begun.

With his betrayal revealed, former Blade Leith Torren flees into the Sheered Rock Hills, pursued by King Respen’s vengeful Blades.

Left behind at Nalgar Castle, Renna Faythe tries to find her purpose, yet that purpose isn’t what she expected.

Brandi Faythe has been torn from her sister, and that isn’t all right. If Leith can’t rescue Renna, Brandi will take matters into her own hands.

War demands sacrifice. Courage falters. Who will find the strength to defy King Respen?
Acktar rests on one hope:

The Leader is ready.

                                                                               My Review
                                                           Rating: Four-point Seventy-five

Yet another incredible book by Tricia Mingerink. Having read her last two books and loving them, I was so excited to be part of the launch team for Defy. And may I just say, I am in love with this book!

I’ll just start with the amazing characters. Renna, a healer, is one of my absolute favorite characters of all time! AHH, I just love her so much! It was just so amazing to see her journey from being the fearful girl in Dare, to being the strong woman she was in Defy. *hugs Renna*

Also, Leith! I mean, who doesn’t love Leith. He was so awesome, and sweet. Almost too sweet, because he put himself in so much danger and I wanted him alive, and well. But no. *cries*

In this book, we also got to adventure a bit more in Acktar. Like Eagle Heights! (*squeals* Yes, we get to go to Eagle Heights!) Then we had more time at Nalgar Castle, which I loved because I got to wander around the castle. I totally enjoyed going more places, and the parts of Acktar we went to were so awesome. I love how this series is a Fantasy, but it's set in a western like setting. :D

-Cons-  I thought Leith and Renna’s relationship went a bit fast towards the end. Once they found out they both liked each other, they were quite touchy feely. Also, resistance was very, very much pushed in this book. Being non-resistant myself, I didn’t agree with this, but I didn’t lower the rating for difference in views.

As for who I would recommend this to: Anyone who is a fan of TBoA, (duh, Hannah. They probably already read it.) and anyone looking for an awesome, Christian fantasy read. The age would probably be fourteen and up due to some torture, and violence.

Facebook Party Announcement
                                                               Facebook Party!
Be sure to invite people to the Facebook party! It’s going to be a fun night! Jaye L. Knight will be stopping by. I’ll be giving away copies of books by Jaye, as well as Nadine Brandes and Angie Brashear. There’ll also be giveaways for the audiobooks of Dare and Deny, and, of course, paperbacks of the whole series.

To top it all off, there will be a live character chat with the characters of The Blades of Acktar. What does this mean? It means that for 1.5 hours on June 2, several of the characters will have Facebook accounts and know how to use them. They’ll be there to answer questions and chat. Have you ever wanted to ask Leith a question? This will be your chance. Want to have a chat with Brandi? You’ll be able to do that too. It’s going to be grand chaos.

Check it out here: Facebook Party!
